Molly Leece - Aged 12
The definition of charming; a sunny tale of one rabbit’s wild brush with freedom. The language is crisp, the imagination bright, and the jeopardy suitably relaxed. There was some really nice description that made us want to keep on reading in this great piece of biographical writing. You conveyed a fascinating perspective and thrilling end…it was a wonderful cliff hanger, but please tell us Sparky made it home?! Such a charming and witty story with great voice and structure. The mix of everyday adventure and animal perspective was super engaging.
The Adventures of Sparky the Rabbit

Based on a true story
My name is Sparky, and I belong to the Leece family. However, today they left my fence open when they were playing football so I have decided that I shall embark on a noble quest around my hometown and do some exploring.
In my house I have: my food bowl and water, a set of stairs and a bedroom that is filled with hay – which is very comfortable. I am sad to leave it behind, but I know that I will return soon. After eating some hay and packing myself a small bag, I am ready to leave.
The first place I went on my adventure was the fairy garden in my human’s driveway. It was enormous! I met a lovely robin called Raymond and we had a lovely chat about the weather (as that is what most of the British public talk about). I also met a fairy, but she must’ve been a bit shy as she didn’t do much talking.
Then came a very dangerous part of my quest. I had to cross the road. Cars were coming from every which way, and it made me terrified. I started running dodging one car ducking under the next until I arrived on the pavement on the other side. PHEW!!!!!
I then walked across to the fisheries where I knew there were other rabbits. It was also lunchtime, so my stomach was rumbling a bit. I decided that I needed a little rest and so I sat down under a tree and nibbled on some grass. Then I met a herd of rabbits, and they shared some treats with me. How kind!
I decided to spend the night with them because it would be safe. They took me to their burrow and gave me a little part in the corner where I could sleep. It was very cozy. I had a few little treats from my bag before going to bed.
When I woke up, I decided that I would go and visit the park. So, I bid the rabbit family farewell and set off toward the park. I had to cross the dangerous road again and I hopped to the park.
It was all going well until a dark shadow came up behind me. I turned and was faced with a huge creature with sharp teeth and a dripping mouth. It also had dark fur and gigantic green eyes. Luckily it was on a leash so it couldn’t attack me, but it was definitely a close call.

That’s when I realized that I missed my home and my family. I decided that I would wait one more night before I went home because I had found a rather nice spot under a tree where I could sleep. I snuggled under a leaf and went off to sleep.

I headed back during the night after a few hours of sleep only to find that my pen had been closed. HOW DARE THEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Suddenly something snapped behind me…….
